SEP 6 – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said the people of Punjab should side with the truth and join MQM because it was the only party which could save Pakistan.
He also called for the trial of all dictators who subverted the constitution under Article 6 and their supporters, adding if Musharraf was made to stand trial, all those who endorsed his actions must also be held accountable.
“All those military generals, judges and officials who endorsed Musharraf’s decisions and policies will also be held accountable,†he warned, adding “at least 200,000 people would be held accountable in that caseâ€.
In a telephonic address from London to an iftar-dinner for journalists in capital Islamabad on Saturday evening, he said parliament should have concentrated on resolving basic problems confronting the people instead of wasting months on discussions on Article 6, which deals with high treason.
He said the conspiracy to implicate MQM with allegations of planning a separate state ‘Jinnahpur’ have been uncovered and the facts were different from the ‘propaganda’.
Altaf also announced that he has forgiven former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and all other officials who were involved in an anti-MQM operation in 1992.
“On Defence Day, I forgive all those, including Nawaz, who were involved in the operation against the MQM,†said Altaf over the telephone while addressing a gathering hosted by the MQM for journalists.
Altaf said that leaders of squabbling parties had never opposed the feudal culture, and they always united to defend feudalism and opposed agriculture tax. He said Pakistan suffered from “ethno-linguistic feudalismâ€.
He called upon President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to convene an all-party conference on Balochistan to win back the support of estranged Baloch leaders. He also called for formation of a reconciliatory commission on Balochistan.
The Muttahida chief said the government should accept the just demands of Baloch nationalist leaders in the larger national interest.
Altaf said even though MQM was part of the Musharraf-led government when Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti was killed, he strongly denounced it and had asked the government to settle matters thru dialogues.

Dear Altaf Bhai your MQM workers are mentally and physically torturing Panjabis in Sindh. I am also included in these victims. Your workers are possessing over the business. Duirng last ruling government MQM had Home Ministry in Sindh. Your workers were involved in the cases of tortures on men and women both in Sindh. They had earn a huge of illegal money and bribes from Panjabi and Pathan community in Sindh. So why Panjabis should join MQM on your appeal. I agree that your thought is positive but these maters should be dissolved. And who is responsible for 301 killings in Karachi during last two (June and July) months?
