70 Pakistani Mountaineers are in Russia for Joint ‘Friendship-2017’ Military Exercise
Military personnel from Pakistan are in Karachay-Cherkessia of the Russian federation to participate in the joint Russian-Pakistani military exercise.
The Pakistani and Russian militaries will carry out “Friendship-2017” joint exercises, the chief of the press service of Russia’s Southern Military District colonel Vadim Astafyev said report RIA Novosti.
A combined 200 soldiers – from Pakistan, and Russia’s Southern Military District motorized rifle brigade – are scheduled to participate. The exercises are ongoing from September 22 and will continue till October 4.
On Saturday, RIA Novosti reported that military personnel from Pakistan had arrived in Karachay-Cherkessia to participate in the joint Russian-Pakistani exercises.
“Over 200 servicemen in total will take place in the Friendship-2017 Russian-Pakistani military exercise, including over 70 mountaineers from Pakistan and over 100 servicemen of the mountain infantry division of the Southern Military District, stationed in the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia,” the official said.
Russian and Pakistani servicemen conducted their first joint military exercises last year in Pakistan, in which more than 40 soldiers from both countries participated in mountain training exercises aimed at enhancing their counter-terrorism skills and capabilities.
