The 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2018) is likely to feature cricketers from China. The Chinese cricketers are all set to be part of the Peshawar Zalmi franchise for the upcoming edition of the popular T20 league.
The recent reports in Geo.tv suggest that the move is to strengthen sporting ties between the two nations which have embarked on a massive program called China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Javed Afridi, the owner of the Peshawar Zalmi franchise said he is keen on striking bonds with Chinese cricketers. He mentioned there is a need to strengthen ties between the two countries on cultural and sports front. China and Pakistan are also close associates on political and military ties. This move may further better the existing bond between the two nations dubbed ‘Iron Brothers’.
The Zalmi franchise issued a statement in which they announced the franchise will be grooming cricketers in China in the upcoming months.
“Peshawar Zalmi is not only pleased to assist in top-notch coaching and mentoring of cricketers in China, but also providing them with a platform to recognize their talent and motivate them to achieve international recognition,” the statement quoted.
Peshawar Zalmi–the PSL 2017 champions, is said to be collaborating with Chinese Cricket Association.
