Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) may host World XI cricket game

Forrmer Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) sports minister and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) vice-president, Syed Aqil Shah wants Peshawar to host a game when the star-studded World XI tours Pakistan in January.

The World XI is expected to tour Pakistan to play matches in various cities. Meanwhile, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president Brig (retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar has welcomed the idea and may also meet Aqil Shah in this regard.

By organizing mega events in different cities, the PHF plans to help the growth of sport. After successfully staging the Boys’ Schools National Championship in Khairpur and allocating National Hockey Championship to Sukkur, the PHF now wants to organize domestic hockey events in other cities as well.

The National Championship will be played from December 15-30. Sindh government is providing all-out support to the PHF for staging the championship. The federation plans to hold the event in KP next year.
