Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leader concerned over ‘racial discrimination’ against Pakhtuns


MAMOSA Report — Senior Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, who is also Provincial Chairman of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), has expressed suspicion over bias and racial discrimination allegedly being carried out against Pakhtuns in Punjab terming it a malicious conspiracy against the integrity of the federation of Pakistan.

In a statement issued in Peshawar, capital of KP province, Sherpao demanded immediate halt to the racial discrimination saying that actions should be taken under the National Action Plan against all those who are promoting racism in the country.

The QWP leader univocally stated that propaganda is being carried out to link terrorism with Pakhtuns in Pakistan. He added that these attempts are threatening the unity of the country as Pakhtun nation have rendered unmatched sacrifices for the security of the country throughout history.

While commenting on the issue, the chairman said that Pakhtuns are being marginalized in Pakistan. He criticized the federal government for its biased policies against smaller provinces adding that Punjab is being developed at the cost of exploiting the resources of smaller provinces.

Sikandar Sherpao further added that despite the 18th amendment, KP is not being given control over its natural resources. Additionally, the federal government is delaying the provision of net hydel arrears to the province in an attempt to halt the development of the province.

QWP leader also stated that attempts were and are still underway to single out KP from developmental projects associated with the $56 billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). “Now the Punjab Government has started racism against Pakhtuns and are arresting, harassing and threatening the business of Pakhtuns in Punjab.”

“These actions are in clear violation of the constitution and QWP will raise the issue on every forum to disclose the real face of the enemies of federation,” he added.
