Old foes meet once again for the final clash of Champions Trophy 2017

Irshad Salim (Updated): The clash of the Titans — Reigning champs India and its western neighbor Pakistan will go head to head on Sunday for cricket’s coveted Champions Trophy 2017.

While tension simmers on the Line of Control in disputed Kashmir Valley – the tension for tomorrow is a tad different — it’s all about sport, galvanized resolve to beat the other sans blood and guns and instead, roses, cheers, jeers and packfull of adrenaline on both sides.

Aptyl reported by a local Pakistani daily, “London will be painted green and blue come Sunday in anticipation for one of the biggest games in cricket history. Pakistan play India in a 50-over ICC tournament final for the first time. “It cannot get bigger than this in the game of cricket, barring a world cup final between the two South Asian giants. But for now, the India-Pakistan final is the event and has already brought the cricketing world to a standstill,” Dawn wrote.

Head coach Mickey Arthur for Pakistan team believes he may have found the defending champions’ Achilles Heel ahead of the showdown at The Oval, according to The Express Tribune.

Arthur says India’s top-order has done marvelously well for the team which has meant that the middle-order hasn’t really been tested throughout the competition. If Pakistan want to create a chance for themselves, then they’ll have to focus their attack on India’s top three — Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli.

“We have to [attack], we’ve got no other option,” Arthur told cricket.com.au. “We’ve got to try and make that new ball really work for us. We’ve got to try and get into them. That middle-order hasn’t had massive hits, they haven’t batted much under pressure of late. So we’ve got to try and put them under extreme pressure particularly by knocking their top-order over. If we can do that, we’ve got a real chance of getting to their underbelly.”

Meanwhile, a ton of tweets jam the micro social platform by cricket enthusiasts from both sides for #CT17. Here are some tweets we thought would be of interest. We’ll keep updating until the (London) bell rings at the Oval.
