Pakistani American Engineer Honored With ‘Aviation Laureate Award’ in Technology

Aviation Week & Space Technology announced winners of 60th Annual Laureate Awards, honoring individuals for their extraordinary achievements in the global aerospace arena.

The winners of the 2017 Laureate Awards were honored on March 2 at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

Pakistani American engineer Ehtisham Siddiqui was the recipient of the 2017 Aviation Week Awards for his life time dedication in the field of Aviation.

A 1974 graduate of NED University in Karachi in Mechanical Engineering, Siddiqui is the Vice President of BAE Systems which jointly with Gulfstream won the Technology Award.

Gulfstream and BAE Systems set out to reintroduce the intuitiveness of mechanically coupled flight controls by integrating electronically coupled sidesticks on the G500 and G600 business jets, set for certification this year and next year, respectively. The business jets will be the first commercial FBW aircraft with active sidesticks in service.

Siddiqui, who holds a Ph.D degree, is the former President of NED Alumni Association (NEDAA) in North America, and lives with his family in Binghamton, New York.
