Punjab Means Business: Investors from 26 countries attending B2B seminar

PKonweb Report — Investors from 26 countries are attending an International Seminar on Business Opportunities in Pakistan’s largest province of Punjab which consists of 55 percent of the total population of the country and accounts for 60 percent of the total GDP through its 68,000 industrial units.

The two-day event being organized by Punjab Board of Investment and Trade is being held in the provincial capital of Lahore on 22 and 23 May.

Punjab government led by PM Sharif’s brither Shahbaz Sharif expects to woo worldwide investors for the province’s 150 billion dollar economy specially to take advantage of the synergy being created by the China Pakistan Economic Corridor passing through its hinterland.

With its 150 billion dollar GDP — more than the GDP rate of countries like Sri Lanka, Hungry, Ukraine and Morocco, the province is offering opportunities of investment to foreign and local investors in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mines and minerals, pharmaceutical, health, education, livestock and housing schemes. Major Chinese and Turkish companies have established their Pakistan offices in Punjab.

Meanwhile, according to reports, the province has launched Pakistan’s first Free Rural Ambulance Service to serve Women and Public in remote areas.

Recently, Punjab’s IT board Inaugurated E-Rozgar I.T. Training Center at the University of Gujrat to help train youth — Pakistan’s youth bulge is one of the highest in the region.
