MAMOSA Report — The Pakistan Army on Friday said it was preparing for March 23 Pakistan Day parade to display its military might in Islamabad.
The day marks the adoption of Lahore Resolution in 1940, demanding a separate nation for the Muslims of British Indian Empire.
“Preparations for March 23 Parade are in full swing at Shakarparian parade ground Islamabad,” a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), media wing of the Pakistan army said.
“Special feature of the parade this year will be participation of Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) China’s Tri Services and Saudi Arabia’s Special Force’s contingents and Turkish Jannisary Military band (Mehteran)” — world’s famous and oldest military band dating back to the Ottoman Empire.
The ISPR said Chief of South African National Defence Force General Solly Zacharia will also witness the parade among other dignitaries.
The Pakistan’s military will display nuclear-capable weapons, tanks, jets, drones and other weapons systems.
Pakistan has been facing an upsurge of terrorism recently and responded with new nationwide operation named “Reject Disorder,to rid the country of the vestiges of this menace.
After the success of Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 series this year, Pakistan Day celebrations will certainly mark a return of peace and stability to the country, observers say.
