ISLAMABAD (MAMOSA Report), Jan 22 – : Two former Prime Ministers of the previous PPP government, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf were indicted Wednesday on corruption charges by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
According to NAB sources, the bureau has formally charged Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf in a case related to the illegal appointment of ex-Ogra chief Tauqir Sadiq, who is a key suspect in Rs 82 billion Ogra scam.
The decision was taken following an executive board’s proceeding chaired by chairman NAB on Tuesday, reports said.
Raja Pervez Ashraf was chairman of the interview board that had appointed Tauqir Sadiq while Yusuf Raza Gilani was the prime minister at the time when Tauqir Sadiq was appointed.
Gilani was the first prime minister during the previous PPP government and had to step down due to contempt of court charges. Raja Pervez Ashraf was Gilani’s successor.
