The Big 5 Saudi construction expo kicks off with 500 exhibitors from 20 countries

The Big 5 Saudi expo offers 48 free to attend and CPD-certified (Continuing Professional Development) workshops.

BE2C2 Report — The largest and fastest growing construction show in the kingdom — The Big 5 Saudi, kicks off in Jeddah on March 27 with more than 500 exhibitors from 20 countries including Italy, Turkey, Germany, Greece, China, Qatar, Kuwait, Spain, Hungary, UAE and India, to name a few.

Running until March 30, The Big 5 Saudi 2017 will showcase the most innovative products for the built environment in the Kingdom — vital for delivering successfully the Saudi Vision 2030’s mega-projects.

Thousands of industry professionals, vendors, businessmen and entrepreneurs are expected to visit the three-day event, the organizers said.

Last year The Big 5 Saudi welcomed around 15,000 visitors, bringing together over 21,000 participants, with over 3,000 products on display. This year we expect the numbers to exceed, they added.

The trade show will be provide platform for more than 15,000 expected peers to network, do business (B2B), and learn, as it will display 600 brands from regional and international industry leaders including local businesses, SMEs.

With over $700 billion worth of active projects currently going on in the kingdom, and an additional $30 billion investment expected from the government in 2017, architects, engineers, developers, manufacturers, suppliers and contractors from around the globe are meeting in Jeddah to capitalize on this growing market, the organizers said Nathan Waugh, the portfolio event director.

Besides the global players, Saudi-based manufacturers and construction services firms exhibiting their latest solutions for the built environment at the show will focus on highlighting their products and services with localization and local manufacturing initiative of the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2020) in mind.

More than just a trade exhibition, The Big 5 Saudi 2017 will also offer 48 complimentary and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified workshops to visitors attending the event, the organizers said.

The free workshops will focus on project management, innovation and technology, and sustainability, to help industry professionals develop their skills and knowledge in areas critical to the future success of their business, said the organizers.

Frank Wiesse, director of Drees & Sommer Consulting Engineering, will open the project management agenda on Monday with a presentation on “Efficiency Improvements in Construction Projects,” while “The Art of Delivering Before Time and Within Budget” will be the focus of Nagib-Guy El-Alam, vice president construction, SATCO, on the following day.

The list of prominent speakers at The Big 5 Saudi this year include Tarik Al-Hraki, business and project management consultant & trainer; Wael S. Khalil, PMO and training consultant at Counselors Consultancy House (C.C.H); Joseph MJ, vice president planning and cost control at Meydan — Sobha Construction; and Jamil Hassan Ghaznawi, JLL national director and country head in Saudi Arabia, among many others.
