Turkey’s Top Soldier Gen. Akar Meets Pakistan Air Force Chief in Islamabad

Turkey and Pakistan: neighbors without physical borders

May 6, 2018 (DESPARDES/PKONWEB) — Pakistan Air Force Chief Mujahid Anwar Khan met Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar in capital Islamabad on Saturday, during which he vowed to continue cooperation in the field of aviation and military training.

In an official statement released by the Pakistani military’s media wing ISPR, Khan, who met Gen. Akar at the Pakistan Air Force headquarters, highlighted that both countries enjoy cordial and brotherly relations, and reiterated the resolve to further boost the existing cooperation.

Earlier, when the Turkish military chief arrived at the headquarters, Pakistan Air Force presented him with a guard of honor.

Gen. Akar, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, appreciated the sound professionalism of Pakistan Air Forces and lauded its role in fighting against terrorism, the statement said.

On Thursday and Friday, the Turkish military chief met Pakistan’s top civilian and military leadership, including President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Gen. Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

Turkey considers Pakistan, with which it is bound with fraternal ties, as one of the prominent players for the security and stability of the region.

To mark the 71st anniversary of diplomatic ties established between Turkey and Pakistan, a special exhibition of photographs was held in Islamabad last month.

Titled “Journey of Friendship and Brotherhood: A Pictorial Survey of Turkey-Pakistan Relations”, it was inaugurated by President Mamnoon Hussain and Turkey’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul.

During the event, ambassador Yurdakul stated that Turkey and Pakistan are neighbors without physical borders.

He also indicated that the relations between the two countries are not based on interests of real-politik, rather are hinged on heartfelt affection and it inherits its strength from pure, simple and absolute brotherhood.
