(Madrid) — Soccer legend Diego Maradona is again in the news for the wrong reasons. The two-time World Cup champion is in Madrid ahead of the Napoli-Real Madrid Champions League clash on Wednesday, and he got into it with a journalist in the hotel lobby on his way to eat dinner.
The journalist said Maradona hit him, and Maradona said that if he were to hit him, he wouldn’t have a nose anymore. Check out the heated exchange.
After Maradona doesn’t give the journalists the time of day, he said “We have been hit by Diego Maradona”
Maradona then says, “No, no. A hit, no. If I hit you, you wouldn’t even have a nose.”
The legend then goes on to say he isn’t allowed in the hotel, and that he wants to have a peaceful dinner.
According to CBS Sports, “Maradona delivered great moments on the field and continues to deliver embarrassing ones off of it.”
Police called to Maradona’s Madrid hotel
Spanish police were called to a local hotel by concerned staff on Wednesday over an argument between former Argentine footballer Diego Maradona and his girlfriend.
“When the agents and emergency services arrived, those people (Maradona and his girlfriend) showed no sign of injuries and did not press charges, there was just a discussion,” police sources told AFP.
According to the same source, the events took place around 8:30 am after hotel staff overheard an argument.
Maradona is in Madrid to watch his old side Napoli take on European champions Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday night.
