AUG 19: Family visas for Kuwait are still open and the government of Kuwait are accepting applications from all designations, even 250 salary holders, says a report on social media site ‘Facebook’.
In June the Kuwait ministry of Interior started accepting family visit visas for Pakistanis.
The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation estimates the population of Pakistanis in Kuwait to be around 100,000. The former Pakistani chargé d’affaires in Kuwait had given a higher estimate of 150,000 in 2009.
As per figures available in the public domain, it is estimated that overseas Pakistanis in Kuwait remit anywhere from $1.5 billion to $2 billion a year.
In March the government of Kuwait introduced a labor policy to relax visas for Pakistan nationals working in the public sector of the country.
Under the policy, Pakistani workers in Kuwait can now bring their families to Kuwait without restriction.
They can also issue dependent visas of male children up to the age of 15 and female children up to the age of 18 as long as both the employee and his wife have valid residences in Kuwait.
According to reports, Pakistanis can obtain a commercial visa to work in first-class companies having state-owned shares. The new measures announced by the Government of Kuwait would ensure greater employment opportunities for Pakistanis in the long run in Kuwait, said a APP report.
It would also help in relieving their hardships especially for the divided families of expatriate Pakistanis. Further relaxation is expected in due course, the report added.
