Bollywood choreographers and the judges of Zee TV’s reality show ‘Dance India Dance’ (DID), Remo D’ Souza and Geeta Kapur, were severely injured and admitted to Belle Vue hospital in Kolkata when they had a scooter accident while shooting for the reality show there.
Remo was riding a scooter and Geeta was sitting on the side-car when the accident occurred. Though Geeta was discharged from the hospital late Monday night, Remo’s condition is bad as he has multiple fractures on his right leg. The channel has cancelled the shoot. This is the second such accident in Kolkata after Vivek Oberoi broke his foot during the filming of Mani Rathnam’s Yuva on Kolkata’s Vidyasagar Setu. “It’s a shock. The accident happened on AJC Bose Road in south Kolkata. The road has several potholes. Remo lost his balance after he hit one of them and hit a divider. His right leg was crushed and Geeta was flung out of the side-car. We were shooting a sequence in which we were taking them to Mithun Chakraborty’s ancestral home in Kolkata,” says Ashish Gowalkar, head, non-fiction content, Zee TV, adding: “We are now arranging for their return to Mumbai.”
The East region auditions of ‘Dance India Dance’ have been put on hold even though the channel has received more than 30,000 applications. The preliminary auditions are over.
