ISLAMABAD: Following the launch of its DSL broadband service over fixed lines in 2007 PTCL has became the largest and the fastest growing broadband service provider among all high-speed Internet service providers in Pakistan, says a press release issued on Thursday, Dec 24.
In details, within just two-and-a-half-year of its service launch, PTCL acquired over 300,000 broadband customers and took the service to over 200 cities and towns across the country, leading the proliferation and awareness of broadband services across Pakistan. And this can be established from the fact that since July 2008, PTCL has achieved a phenomenal growth of over 400 percent in its fixed line broadband customers, expanding its customer base from 56,000 in just 20 cities in July 2008 to over 300,000 in over 200 cities by the end of November 2009. This landmark growth has been achieved from an initial stage of launching the service in three major cities only.
This is the extension of PTCL broadband infrastructure to far-flung areas, continuous improvisation of its customer service and complaint management and introduction of various value-added services such as free dial-up, personalised email account and free access to online peer to peer gaming, movies, music, educational and religious content, which have proven to be a catalyst in expanding PTCL broadband services all across the country and arising a new broadband culture and awareness in Pakistan, whereas coming months will see the further extension of PTCL broadband service to more cities and towns.
