A recent study reveals the happiest States in America: The top three happiest states in USA are Louisiana, Hawaii or Florida. New York is at the bottom of the list of the Happiest States in America.
Louisiana is the happiest, Hawaii second and Florida third, study reveals. At the other end of the scale Michigan, Connecticut and New York bring up the rear, it has emerged.
Researchers say they know why.
The happiness ratings were based on a survey of 1.3 million people across USA by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Data collected over four years was used. It included a question asking people how satisfied they are with their lives.
Economists Andrew J. Oswald of the University of Warwick in England and Stephen Wu of Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., compared the happiness ranking with studies that rated states on a variety of criteria ranging from availability of public land to commuting time to local taxes.
They found the happiest people tend to live in the states that do well in quality-of-life studies.
