New York: Pakistani cricketers face racial abuse in New Zealand: Pakistani cricketing team was subjected to racial abuse during the third Test against New Zealand in Napier.
The Pakistani team manager has however ruled out lodging any formal complaint against the incident.
A brother of New Zealand MP Chris Tremain and his 17 friends chanted slogans of ‘Pakistani terrorists’ from a corporate box at the McLean Park, New Zealand, media has reported.
The incident prompted the stadium authorities to display a “no racist comments please” sign near the scoreboard in the afternoon that day.
Mark Tremain, meanwhile, denied having been abusive in his language and comments towards the Pakistani cricketers.
Tremain however conceded that he and his friends were first asked to stay quiet and then were politely told to leave the stadium.
Acknowledging that he may never be allowed to hire the enclosure again, Tremain sought to put a lid on the ugly incident and said, “I apologize to anyone who was upset.”
Meanwhile, his brother Chris who is a member of the New Zealand parliament, did not approve of the incident by saying, “Clearly what happened is unacceptable.”
Pakistan is scheduled to leave for Australia Wednesday for a full test series after ending its three-match Test series at 1-1. (MAMOSA)
